From here a miner needs to grow their organic credit score to 100 before any $DPR can be earned. Once on the Deeper Chain, miners begin with a credit score of zero.Tokens need to be staked for at least 9 months with 3 month linear vesting. In order to miner $DPR a minimum of 1000 $DPR (equivalent to $90 at today’s token price) will need to be purchased and staked to be added to the Deeper Chain.Connect your Deeper device to the internet and share bandwidth. If you are looking for a what I would consider safe, secure, investment, this may be your ticket. This is a great long-term passive income investment in my opinion that offers much better returns than keeping your money tied up in certificates of deposit in a bank. Below I will outline how to earn Deeper (DPR) tokens and some nuances that will improve your earnings should you want to invest the necessary money. If you can follow step-by-step instructions you should be able to register your device(s) in about 20 minutes. All of the Deeper devices are straightforward to use however registering the device and setting up the mining involves a bit of time commitment and a level of investment. So if you decide to order a deeper connect product, make sure it is one that is designed to mine. The Deeper family of devices were never meant to mine crypto, however the mining feature was added in an effort to grow the network and benefit the community. The Deeper Pico gives me the ability to feel secure while traveling and mine crypto all while on-the-move. These are the times when I’m most concerned about my computer, my data and my crypto privacy and security. While the Deeper Mini (I own one as well) is great for home, I’m mostly on the road. Many of us use VPNs like VPN Express and Avast VPN spending hundreds of dollars a year on subscriptions, making the Deeper Connect Mini one time fee no brainer! For the same price I paid with other VPNs I can get the Deeper Connect for life, in addition to the other features above and have the ability to earn the $DPR token.

There is a pretty good variety, and I found the portions to be about what we expected. YUM!Īttached below is a copy of the menu for the cabana, and this will give you an idea of all of the delicious food available to order at their restaurant as well. We liked their nachos, chicken fingers, and chocolate chip cookies when we were there. We didn’t spend much time in there, though, because we were too busy having fun in the water! There was truly something for everyone and all of the kids had a great time.Įven if you don’t have a cabana, worry not! Mondays are a very low traffic day, and you will have your pick of seats to place your towel or to enjoy a meal from their restaurant. It was wonderful.Įpic Waters was generous and offered us a cabana for the day, so we had a nice place to set our things down, an attendant to help us with our food orders, and even a television. I’m talking about NO LINES and NO WAITING for anything. I think there were less than 20 people there until about 3 in the afternoon, when I’m assuming kids were coming straight from school with their families. Be sure to check out their website and calendar for specific times.Īs you look through the pictures in this post, I want you to notice something: NO CROWDS! Seriously, even if they didn’t offer discounted admission for homeschoolers, the fact that we pretty much had the place to ourselves made it worth it to go on a Monday morning. Hours vary throughout the year, but this is a year-round attraction that is perfect for the entire family. The park is located at 2970 Epic Place, Grand Prairie, TX. This includes access to all of their slides and attractions (including the Lasso Loop, Yellowjacket Drop, Aquanaut, TexasTwist, E-Racers, and Prairie Plunge), the Flowrider® surfing simulator, Rascal’s Round-Up, a pool with some basketball goals to shoot some hoops, and their amazing lazy river. On Mondays through March 2, 2020, homeschool families pay just $14 per person for general admission and can stay all day long. This park is a lot of fun for people of all different ages. Thanks to Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark for inviting my family out for a complimentary visit so I could tell my Dallas and Fort Worth homeschooling friends firsthand about homeschool day at Epic Waters in Grand Prairie, Texas! The food had a lack of flavor and overload of toppings when we were ordering pizza.Īll in all, Epic Waters was a great experience that I really enjoyed and completely recommend. You zoom down the drop and then ride up an arch before free-falling back down. Then it drops you quickly, and with incredible speed. There was another slide but this one took you outside of the building before racing you back inside. This was my second favorite ride in the park. You get to a second chamber that spins you back around so that you are facing forward, and you keep sliding. After a few seconds, you end up in this circular chamber that rocks and spins you around. It starts out calm but it starts twisting and turning. Walking further into the waterpark I went on a two-person raft slide. I rode the mat riders multiple times over and over, finding it just as fun every single time. It was really fast and it was a very fun experience. While placing my mat on the slide, I waited for the go-ahead. The mat racers were four separate slides that would eventually empty out into the same area. I had to climb three or four flights of stairs to reach the top. The tower itself is actually taller than the building, so they had to build over the top. Then I grabbed a blue mat and made my way towards the mat racing slides. The waves were pretty gentle but I enjoyed floating through some of the bigger ones. I swam and floated for a few laps, and then the lifeguards turned on the wave machine. But the first thing I did was the lazy river. I was exhilarated to try all of the rides. In the center of it all, looming over everything, was a massive metal tower with slides spiraling out of it going every which way. There was a wave-riding machine, a lazy river, a pool with a few basketball hoops and a kids area. Inside the walls of the park, there was a lot to take in. They could be seen from a long distance, and that’s how it drew my attention and interest. Nobody could miss the brightly colored slides protruding from the glass wall. The second building is unique in the way that three slides stick out of the building walls. The first building is an indoor obstacle course with other drier activities. They are huge, domed buildings that are only a short walk away. Epic Waters itself has two buildings on their property. Admission is $20 per person, but kids 3 years old and under can get in for free. It is about a 40 minute drive from Aledo, depending on where you live. During the extended weekend, I got to visit an indoor waterpark located in Grand Prairie, Epic Waters. Located inside a former factory, it showcases artists creating work live, two exhibition galleries, a theater, and classrooms for art classes.Īddress: 801 E 4th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013 Arts District Brewing Company Art Share L.A.Ī great place to experience all things arts and culture, Art Share L.A. More pixels and larger pixels mean the sensor can take in more light, allowing it to get a more accurate reading of the scene and lowering the chance of digital noise. With a sensor that is over 2.5 times the surface area of a standard APS-C sensor, full-frame cameras are capable of having larger pixels and, in some cases, more pixels than APS-C cameras. What really sets the full-frame apart is the sensor. One of the most heavily touted benefits to having a full-frame camera compared to an APS-C camera is the better quality images.Īs for resolution, APS-C and full-frame cameras are nearly identical thanks to today’s technology. When it comes to overall image quality, full-frame cameras have a definite advantage over APS-C cameras. Image Quality Differences Between APS-C and Full-Frame Full-frame sensors help reduce the risk of noise even in these extreme scenarios. These larger pixels are especially helpful when shooting in higher ISO settings, as higher ISO lends itself to noisier, grainy images. The larger pixels are able to take in more light, which reduces image noise. This larger sensor allows for larger individual pixels, which permits better image quality. Full-frame sensors tend to have more than 2.5 times the surface area of a standard APS-C sensor. However, with 35mm film, APS-C has a significant crop factor (more on that later).Īs the name implies, for full-frame cameras the sensor fills the entire frame of traditional 35mm film. This film was only 24mm wide, so most APS-C sensors did not lose a significant amount of information when using this film. In comparison, one of the more popular sizes of APS-C sensors only measures 22mm by 15mm.ĪPS-C sensors, also called crop sensors, are named from the antiquated APS film that was popular in the 1990s but is now discontinued. According to Techradar, a full-frame camera is one that uses a sensor that is identical in size to a single frame of 35mm film. If you’re relatively new to the full-frame debate, you may be asking yourself what “full-frame” even means. These features depend on your feature preferences and what you want to get out of your camera. The exact differences between APS-C and Full-frame cameras are featured below. Subaru retuned the CVT for a smoother response and, again, the changes made an impact. Steering is nicely weighted, direct and natural. The ride is composed, with good bump absorption and predictable, comfortable maneuverability. Subaru says it retuned the Outback’s steering, brakes and shock absorbers to improve drivability, and I believe it. Both engines work through a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. A 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder is standard, while a 256-hp, 3.6-liter six-cylinder is optional. While I wouldn’t call it quick, the Subaru Outback isn’t slow, either. The 2018 Outback, however, is both responsive and quiet. My time in Subarus past was marked by irritation and aggravation the brand’s heavy use of continuously variable automatic transmissions has helped fuel economy but hurt responsiveness and quietness. Lastly, the climate controls have been relocated directly under the multimedia screen for a more cohesive look. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone infotainment compatibility are new this year, and they’re standard. Even better are the handy tuning and volume knobs. The graphics are crisp and modern, the menus straightforward and easy to use. A standard 6.5-inch touchscreen replaces last year’s smaller unit, and an 8-inch touchscreen is optional. These small pops of unexpected luxury impress in the thoughtfully designed cabin. New stitching on the upper dash of top trim levels also adds some pizzazz. Subaru even added a dose of luxury in higher trim levels, with high-quality materials highlighted by padded plastic where it counts, plus comfy leather seats with contrast stitching and faux (but believable) low-gloss wood paneling on the door sills and dash. Interior design is classier across the lineup, and materials quality is better overall. The Subaru Outback’s cabin has always had a utilitarian, serviceable look to it, but there’s a surprise inside for 2018. Its tall-wagon looks set it apart from the pack, though with each redesign it takes on more of the bloated stance of an SUV. While the Outback’s exterior styling doesn’t raise eyebrows, it stands out among the throngs of SUVs in grocery store parking lots and school drop-off lanes in that it’s not an SUV - or at least, not exactly. The Outback also competes against more traditional mid-size SUVs like the Ford Edge and Jeep Cherokee. The Subaru Outback’s most direct competitor - spiritually if not in size - is the VW Golf Alltrack, another tall wagon with AWD. Subtle styling tweaks - like more angular headlights and a slightly larger grille - maintain the Outback’s clean, unfussy design, while an updated multimedia system and retuned transmission improve usability and drivability. Minor updates for the 2018 Subaru Outback make an already good thing better. Versus the competition: The Outback blurs the line between wagon and SUV, but it’s more affordable than similarly sized SUVs and just as capable and practical. The verdict: The Subaru Outback offers a blend of two worlds: It’s rugged-looking and capable outside, and it provides just the right balance of comfort and coddling inside. At its first airing the phrase is accompanied by a bitonal accompaniment that sets up the conflicting keys of B-flat major and E major (residing a tritone apart, the farthest possible harmonic distance from each other) as pivotal mechanisms of the cycle’s harmonic structure.īritten’s cycle ranges through various shades of vigor and mystery. The line “ J’ai seul la clef de cette parade sauvage” (“I alone hold the key to this savage parade”) stands as a recurrent motif: the soloist declaims it first in the opening fanfare movement (boldly), and reprises it during the interlude between “ Marine” and “ Being Beauteous” (sounding rather bewildered) and again at the end of the penultimate song, “ Parade” (at last infusing it with triumphant confidence). THE MUSIC Given the obscurity of some of the poems, Britten was probably wise to approach the text-setting as an exercise in finding musical equivalents to specific words or phrases. While in America he continued with his Rimbaud settings, eventually crafting a nine-movement cycle. Britten embarked on voice-and-orchestra settings of two of Rimbaud’s poems, “ Being Beauteous” (with a text in French, despite Rimbaud’s deceptive English title) and “ Marine.” Britten did not hear Sophie Wyss premiere them, in 1939 in London, as he was then living at a freewheeling artists commune in New York City. These were cryptic poems, admittedly perplexing in their odd combinations of thoughts. The composer has taken seven of these poems, six in prose and one in verse, and has made them into a cycle. The word ‘Illuminations’ suggests both the vision of a mystic and a brightly coloured picture …. short life as a poet was an erratic and turbulent one, generally near starvation and often homeless, sometimes with his friend Verlaine, sometimes alone, and much of it was set in the most sordid surroundings, in Paris, Brussels, and London but throughout it, the boy’s inspiration remained radiant and intense. Britten had recently been struggling with the challenges of setting English texts in the cycle On this Island (to texts by Auden), and he was a ready candidate to try text-settings in foreign languages-at first French, then Italian (in his Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo)- before returning to his native language to perfect his distinctive style. Auden suggested that he take a look at the phantasmagorical poetry of Arthur Rimbaud (1854–91), Verlaine’s one-time lover (though their affair had ended badly, in an attempted murder for which Verlaine spent two years in jail). In fact, Les Illuminations was not Britten’s first foray into French just after graduating from high school, he had composed an orchestral song cycle on French texts by Victor Hugo and Paul Verlaine (the Quatre chansons françaises, 1928). Not many English composers had previously shown an interest in setting languages other than their own (Delius being a rare exception), and Britten took some fire from British critics who felt that setting French texts was at least suspicious and perhaps even unpatriotic. The earliest of these was the Swiss soprano Sophie Wyss, who premiered such entries in the Britten catalogue as Our Hunting Fathers (1936) and On This Island (1937), and was also the inspiration for his arrangements of French folksongs (1942) and for the orchestral song cycle on this program, Les Illuminations (1939). Among these, the tenor Peter Pears was Britten’s chief partner (both artistic and spousal), but other singer-collaborators were also important. Britten often wrote vocal works with specific singers in mind over the years, an identifiable “Britten circle” of singers dependably premiered and championed his works. THE BACKSTORY Though Benjamin Britten was an instrumentalist, having been trained as a string player and excelling especially as a pianist, singers flocked around him throughout his career. INSTRUMENTATION: String orchestra with solo high voice (soprano or tenor-here the former) Soprano Jessica Jones was soloist with Yan Pascal Tortelier conducting SFS PERFORMANCES: FIRST AND ONLY-March 2003. WORLD PREMIERE: The movements “ Being Beauteous” and “ Marine” were introduced on August 17, 1939, at the London Proms at Queen’s Hall, by soprano Sophie Wyss with Sir Henry Wood conducting Wyss was also the soloist when the complete song cycle was premiered on January 30, 1940, at Aeolian Hall, London, with the Boyd Neel Orchestra. BORN: November 22, 1913, in Lowestoft, Suffolk, EnglandĭIED: December 4, 1976, in Aldeburgh, SuffolkĬOMPOSED: Begun March 1939 in Suffolk, completed October 1939 in Amityville, Long Island While Smith does fine work, how reliant this Genie is on Smith’s personality does make you wonder if an actor pushing farther out of their comfort zone would have gotten us closer to the boundless creativity that made Robin Williams’ performance so memorable. While Robin Williams breezed through dozens of different voices and personas to bring the Genie to life, never letting us know what to expect, this version of the character very much feels like blue Will Smith (blue Hitch may be closer), so your mileage with the character is going to vary a lot based on how willing you are to accept that. But does Smith get by on charm alone? It’s going to depend a lot on your opinion of Will Smith. The story does give Smith’s Genie a little more depth than just being blue and hilarious, affording him a surprisingly fun and grounded subplot. This Genie relies on Smith’s charm, bravado, and the clear amount of fun he’s having playing the role. Williams’ Genie was an amplification of the actor’s signature chaotic personality and Will Smith wisely steers far clear of trying to match that. Crucially, Smith avoids the one thing that would have derailed the performance: trying to recreate the inimitable Robin Williams’ iteration of the character. Disney had a huge challenge out of the gate in conceiving this movie - how the heck do you recast the Genie, a role so iconically played by the late Robin Williams? Will Smith’s turn as the Genie, for all of its blue-tinged pre-release controversy, is largely a success. |
